The term "apologetics" has been aptly defined as "the branch of theology that is concerned with defending or proving the truth of Christian doctrines." (The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition, 2000.)
That's what this web site is about: defending and proving the truth of Christian doctrines, specifically the doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, Horizon Publishers & Distributors, Inc. has published and distributed hundreds of books and talk tapes in the religious marketplace, mostly to Latter-day Saint (Mormon) readers. A substantial number of those books are directed both to Mormon and non-Mormon readers. Those books have provided excellent answers to intelligent (and also some occasional "dumb" and sometimes "combative") queries raised by non-members of the LDS church. Many of those books are presented in this site.
A few clarifying words of explanation are appropriate as these materials are being introduced. First, Horizon Publishers & Distributors, Inc. is a "closely held" family corporation, owned by devout Latter-day Saints. It is not an LDS Church-owned nor LDS Church-controlled company. It neither is, nor represents itself to be, an official outlet, spokesman, or voice for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LDS Church exercises no editorial or management control over the books published nor the content of those books produced by Horizon Publishers.
Second, the authors whose works are listed on this web site are not "General Authorities" of the LDS Church-they are "lay members" who are sharing their personal knowledge, understandings and perspectives in an effort to help "bring the world to Christ." What they have written has no official status as authoritative LDS Church doctrine.
And third, Horizon Publishers is in the book-publishing business, not the doctrinal question answering and/or debating business, so please don't address such items to us, (and if you do, please don't be unhappy with us if we don't take time to answer you). Likewise, we're not in the mail-forwarding business, so please don't try to use us as conduits to the authors listed herein. Our obligation to them is to respect their personal privacy.
