Horizon Publishers' books on Mormon doctrine, LDS scripture, and comparative religions form an excellent basis for a LDS gospel library.
QUICK LINKS:
The dictionary defines the term “doctrine” as “a principle or position or the body principles in a branch of knowledge or system of belief.” [Webster’s Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary, p. 246.]
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe the doctrines of their Church are set forth, primarily, within the Church’s four volumes of scripture, when subjects are set forth and clarified in broad scriptural patterns.
In this website, the writings of numerous well-qualified authors are presented. They provide valuable insights and commentaries on a wide spectrum of doctrines and core beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ. It should be understood, of course, that these books and tapes are not “official” statements of LDS doctrine. They have been privately written and published. They have not been reviewed, edited nor published by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints per se.
Listed below are 12 subject groups, each containing numerous books and/or audio cassette tapes. The first group, Defense of the LDS Faith, is actually a link to a separate website devoted to LDS apologetics. It contains many of the most powerful doctrinal expositions of all the works which are listed. Clicking on its open button will take you there, and you can easily return to this site when you choose to do so. The remaining eleven groups are all on this site. You’re invited to browse, read, and locate the books and tapes you’d like to obtain for your personal library |
